Good deal of Teppanyaki

So after that terrible fiasco on the part of Kuai Zi last time, let's have a good post shall we. My brother bought this Spreets/Groupon deal for Kobe Jones, I think he bought a 6 course meal initially and only bought one. When he realised it wasn't for two, we were at a bit of a conundrum because who wants to go to Kobe Jones Teppanyaki by themselves, right? The deal came again shortly afterwards, but for the 12 course meal, which he got too, so we could go together. Yay.

When he rang up to reserve a spot, the kind lady said they will upgrade the other guest to the 12 course meal without additional cost =D This, my friends, is what good service sounds like.

Cocktail to begin, and sake was part of the voucher. Here is one place that does not discriminate voucher holders from non-voucher holders. So far? The only place that doesn't actually.

The place was stylishly decorated, each place mat meticulously placed. Sauces arrived, with the waitress introducing each one and recommending its usage.

Entree of chilli edamame. I don't understand why "chilli" is considered a spelling error: I have always typed my chillis with double "L"s.

Appetizers of oyster, beef tataki and salmon... I forgot the exact description.

Cauliflower soup, which I expected chilled because that's the way Iron Chef Sakai did it last time, but nope, this was warm and very nice.

Sashimi~~

Our Teppanyaki chef that night! He was amazing, I was more listening to my meal being made than watching, the sounds of pepper and salt shakers being tinkled against his spatula, the flipping, sizzling... I wish I could sound-record the whole thing and make it into an album titled "Teppanyaki Sounds". How original =P

My No.1 special. Always a favourite to anyone who visits Kobe Jones. I like how this chef doesn't get rid of the extra sauce that pooled around the item because the sauce is what makes it so good. We figured it's a mix of egg and mayo. The next chef who took over after our meal discarded the excess sauce for the next couple...

Seafood salad, with the seafood nicely fried on the teppan.

Balmain bug! Shelled~ it's empty inside, with the meat nicely piled on the side for the chef to cook before presenting it to us.

Lobster! With just the head for decoration~ chef noticed I was taking photos so instead of discarding the shells and head, he put it on the plate as decorations.

Vodka lemon sorbet to cleanse the palate.

Beef! I'm not sure how "wagyu" this is, after having recently read an article about how wagyu beef really isn't anything to do with the ones in Japan at all, but a scam in the food market, using the reputable name of "Wagyu" and slapping it on any cow. If I wanted real wagyu, I guess I'll go to Japan for it. Kobe beef!! :D At this point, I was so full I couldn't finish half of this and passed it along to my brother.

Just to fill us up in the end as if it weren't enough, garlic fried rice, which the chef humorously formed in the shape of a heart, slotted his spatula at the top and flicked it slightly up ad down to make it "beat". Funny guy.

Lastly, our dessert of crepe suzette~ nice citrus finish to a rather big meal. Very well worth it! I've enjoyed most of my experiences at Kobe Jones so far, on one exception when it wasn't so good was during lunch time, but dinners, they do rather well.

If you don't trust any other vouchers online, at least trust Kobe Jones.
